5)slide a cd into the device antenna to boost signal strength

6)do check the place where u get the max speed.. put the device there.. for this run a torrent file and keep the device in different places and check the best speeds in the evdo software(the graph)

7)dont place the device near any other device as electro magnetic waves from that device will interfere with the evdo signals..

Not required for Vista Users.

charly555 Wrote:2)change the maximum no of half open connections to 50 or 100..
Not necessary. You will connect faster but it hardly affects transfer speeds.

Prevent other apps from connecting to net except your browser.

This improves the browsing speed a lot..

charly555 Wrote:5)slide a cd into the device antenna to boost signal strength
Tried it, made no difference in speeds or signal.

Tried this for 2 hours, the speeds were similar at all positions..

maximum no of half open connection definitely improves the torrent speed. I keep it to 300.

And if you apply any new windows update then it automaitcally get reduced to 10, so don't forget to change it again.

RE: tips for the best speeds in evdo..
I bought a USB extension cable for Rs.80/- and placed my modem at the internal side of window pane. This keeps it safe from rain water and gives me ability to expose it to direct sky (better signal from tower than passing through the walls etc...)

After this I got 884 kbps / 47 kbps at speedtest.net
earlier speed with modem in the laptop near the window was 350 kbps / 6 kbps

I have tried all other methods mentioned in this post. CD, signal boosting, some software install, and what not.

USB extension cable exposing the modem to free sky, worked for me!
BSNL rocks! amazing speed! damn cheap prices!
