Simple way to get faster download speeds
hello friends
i am a EVDO owner. I am gonna show you the way to get the higher download speeds.

First thing that i have noticed when i am using the EVDO that when we are downloading any file without any download manager application we i got the speed beetween 30 to 40 KB/s

Well this is the true speed which you will get during the downloading.
Another thing that i noticed was that the capacity of device was 2.4 MB/s.
and our data plan was of 2mpbs

so why getting this 30KBbps speed?
It was due to the bsnls servers they were limiting the download speed at 30-40KBps per connection.

Than how to get more speed?
Answer is simple get more connections.
It mean you i get 30 KBps speed for every connection i make to file server. By multiple connections to the file you will get more speed. If i have 5 connections to the file than i will get 30*5=150KBbps .

In short you dont need to be expert for this. Just use download manager applications to do that. They will do multiple connections for you.

I recommend "Orbit downloader " Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links. its free.
It allows 10 connections per download.

To boost your speeds dont forget to add mirrors. Yes in orbit and some other DM you can add mirror of file that will improve the speed.

Note: i saw some ppl waiting for rise in graph in EVDO's ZTE application before downloading. well that graph will only rise if you start downloading and it aslo dont show the true speed of your downloading it also counts your transfer bytes with bsnl server including dns queries.

with the above thing i manage to download my files at around 200KB/s (its orbit speed. not ZTE app's) at 4bars signal , 4km away from tower and a cd in antana.
check the screenshot.

What about Rapidshare??
well answer is simple Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images.
As we know that the rapidshare dont allow the multiple connections for free users. so i never got more than 35 KB/s for rapidshare.

Any friend have rapid premium of rapid please share with us. We are genuin ppl will not change the pass.

Torrent ??
hmm. we dont have any port forwarding due to shared ip so dont have its advantage but still geting around 60-80 KB/s with torrents.
I use Azureus Vuze.

And one more thing..
we have shared ip. It means that the computers which are using the evdo
are in LAN with you. Just scan your subnet you will get the info of online pcs in your area.
And yeah u can also see their shared files of the same workgroup computers. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images.

Never tried to play CS with other EVDO holder with this internal ip. if any buddy have done this than please reply.

I forgot the DNS issue.
In earlier days specialy in weekends i had problems with DNS.
that my internet connections was okay but wasnt able to open webpages due to DNS server problem i had to refresh the page multiple time to get the successful DNS query.
i dont wanted remember the ips so searched around and solved it..
Get the application called "SimpleDNS" Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links. you can get the fullver. from warez forums.
Thing you need to do is just install the above application and in your ZTE application just give the DNS server ip as your localhost "127.0.0.1"

so now when you will open site it i will query to your localhost DNS server which is SimpleDNS and this application will query to the more than 50 DNS servers (you can also add more) and you will get reply. And it also catches the ip's of site you have visited so you dont need to remember ips.

see the screenshot when you open a site SimpleDNS responds....

RE: Simple way to get faster download speeds
Hi,

You are very correct. The BSNL officer told me that when we are not opening any sites, not downloading anything then the download speed will be 0 kbps. When we are downloading files, that speed shows that you are downloading data. So, when data is downloaded, the speed will be high else it will be very less.

Bsnl in NOT limiting the download speeds. Multiple connections will give a boost on almost any connection. That's why you have so many download managers around.. The low speeds are more due to the inefficient handling of downloads in older browers like Internet Explorer. Newer browsers like Firefox 3 and opera give almost the same speeds as download managers.

4 connections must be enough to use the full bandwidth. Its not that with 20 connections you would get 20*30=300 kbps. You would overload the server and it would terminate the connection.

As we know that the rapidshare dont allow the multiple connections for free users. so i never got more than 35 Kb/s for rapidshare.

Wrong.. Rapidshare limits the speeds for free users to 500 kbps(60 kBps). I get 50-60 kBps when i download from rapidshare.

We are not on a LAN. BSNL is using NAT. Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links.
Sharing of files would be impossible because of the bad upload speeds of EVDO technology.

I have tried CS, the latency in most servers is bad. Its almost unplayable.

Use OpenDNS. No need to install any software. Its free and its the best and safest option.

RE: Simple way to get faster download speeds
@veagles
Well let me clear while i have 2mbps plan and when i bought the EVDO i was first customer in Ahmadabad so there wasnt problem of loading on bandwidth still i was not getting more than 35 KBps with FF3. As we know we can get upto 200KBps with multiple connections that means bandwidth is not prob. than why getting speed around 30-40 KBps? why not having 200KBps per single connection? If u think its bad handling of downloads than i used lots browsers and stuff no where i am getting more than 40KBps per connection. I do manage server and internet of 300 PCs of our university and i do limit their download speeds so i said that from my experience. Find out reason before posting. Do you know any prog. that can handle 200KBps per single connection??

Second

well the number of multiple connection u should use depend on ur bandwidth. We are talking abt EVDO than i have experienced that my evdo can handle 6 connection.
Make clear that I am talking about BYTE not BIT
so i have 2mbps plan, 1 byte = 8bits, It means i can get up to 2048/8 KBps that is 256KBps
As i am saying this article is about my experience. and i am getting 30 to 40KBps per single connection..
So i i want to use my whole bandwidth that i will need 256/30 =~ 8 connection.

If u r getting 45KBps per connection so it means 256/45 =~ 5 . means 5 connection are enough for YOUR bandwidth that was 8 in may case.

@Rapidshare
Please read properly before answering.
I know rapdidshare allows free users to download at 500kbps = 500/8 =62.5KB/s.
as i said i get 30-35 KBps per connection so i also get 30-35KBps for rapidshare as free user.
If ur speed is good than u may get upto 60KBps.
so nothing was WRONG in rapidshare topic in above post.

@LAN
Defiantly they are using NAT due to IPv4 address shortage but i used word LAN just to explain that we can share files as we do in LAN.
Sharing is definably slow due to low upload speed but it is possible. I have downloaded files from network PCs.

@CS
Well i still don't have played CS with other EVDO holder under NAT.
But i play on internet servers regularly without any connection probs with latency round 100-200.

@DNS
well buddy i still recommend the SimpleDNS if u know how to use it.
Because it is itself a DNS server so u will not even need OpenDNS when dns are cached in SimpleDNS u can save the cache.
and even in my case OpenDNS is not replying my 50% of pings.
And as i said u can use OpenDNS by just adding it in SimpleDNS too.

RE: Simple way to get faster download speeds
Hitman , I need you do one small test .

1.Disable simpleDNS that you have and use open DNS and ping 5-10 common websites names like ping Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links. and so and so forth and note down or copy the ping timings .

2.Now enable back simpleDNS and repeat the same and note down the timings .

Do you have better timings ? ( if better how much ,post some of the timings ) , a stable browsing without any problem of websites opening ? or both ?
