Getting AC8700 Rev 0 in March 2010 !!!
Hi all,

I am from Baroda, Gujarat. I got the EvDO three days back. The speeds are really good.

Do the BSNL people provide the AC8710 Rev A device which is required to achieve their advertised 3.1 Mbps connection speed? I am given AC8700 even in March 2010. Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images.

When I asked them about it, they told me that only AC8700s were provided by the head office. Is it possible to replace the same when new ones are available?

Cheers.

Just let me know whether anybody has got AC8710 Rev A from BSNL or not!

If yes, what did they charge? I paid Rs. 4227 for the AC8700 Rev 0.

Hi,
I am from baroda too,and i have got EVDO card three days back on friday-26 March.
And just like you, i too have recieved AC8700 800 M EVDO card. I am not sure if this is Rev 0 or Rev 1, but if it is Rev 0 like you are saying, we both are stuck in a speed less than 3.1 Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images.

Please let me know if you get any updates from the bsnl office.

thanks,
Chirag.

The BSNL people do not have much idea about when the new device will arrive. We can collectively ask for upgrade (free, if possible) when the new devices are available.

@Chirag: I have PMed you too.

It should be ZTE AC 871(0) or Huawei EC 168C / EC 1260 or Micromax MMX 300C model for Rev.A compliant.

I was also running from pillar to pillar and got the Rev.A data card.

Here, in chennai, I had filled up application and attached photos and proof docs and running between Kodambakkam and Anna nagar BSNL offices from 22nd March to get the Rev A data card. They were issuing only this 8700 model (Rev.0) on which I decided not to submit the form.

Only in the evening of 29th March Anna nagar branch has brought new Rev.A data cards (Micromax MMX 300C -Red and White color, with slot for (4GB ) T-Flash memory card) from their stores.

Then, immediately I have submitted the application and got the New Datacard, on 30th evening.

They have delayed the delivery, because they themselves confused with the RUIM (SIM for EVDO devices) since it is supplied separately with the device unlike in AC 8700 in which it is prefixed. At the end they have asked myself to insert the RUIM at my home before use.

I am planning to try with the T-Flash card and to know, whether it is usable like Pendrive.Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images.

Yes it WORKS.

On the way to IPL T20 match (CSK vs Mumbai Indians) bought 4GB microSD (T-Flash) card and after returning from the match, put it immediately into the data card slot. It works fine as a pendrive.

So you can store 4GB data in this EV-DO card and carry anywhere. Two in One.

Hi Ramli7,

That's great. How much did you pay for the device? Can you please post some pictures of it? I would like to inform the BSNL people here at Baroda and will go along with Chirag to claim the new card against the old one which they have given us in March.

Thanks in advance
