Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know when the EVDO is coming to Kolkata. I am dying to have it. If it is coming a bit later, should I go with the CDMA 1x network. Please give me details. I would be thankful to the user. Thanks in advance. |

RE: EVDO in Kolkata
I just got my card Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images. ....I tested it at BP Township...I am getting 15-16 KBps (KByte) Download Speed. The Device is EVDO...So when EVDO will available then I can move to that scheme with this device...With monthly 200 Rs I think it is OK..Guests cannot see images in the messages. RE: EVDO in Kolkata
Ok. So i have this query. Please help me out.
If i go to a place where i can find the BSNL mobile network available , does that mean that i can use the EVDO card also ? Or is there some other parameter for it to work ? I mean isin't that wherever there is a BSNL network , the EVDO card will work ? |

RE: EVDO in Kolkata
Hi, i have a doubt, when u r using CDMA network.does the device need to be configured for using CDMA 1x?
and later on when u plan to shift to EVDO (subject to availability) will u be needed to reconfigure it for EVDO ? I read somewhere that this reconfiguration shud be done only twice.y is it limited? wat wud i do if i plan to reconfigure device for 3rd time? (i need this info bcoz im buying device from an earstwhile user. (06-03-2009 12:05 PM)sandipan Wrote: Guests cannot see links in the messages. The device automatically detects, switches and configures itself for the best available network. (04-08-2009 10:30 AM)sanchay_maity Wrote: Guests cannot see links in the messages. If you have a CDMA connection and get signal from a location, EV-DO card will work there. But, by BSNL network, do you mean BSNL GSM network? Then obviously no. Even if there is CDMA network available it may be CDMA 1x or CDMA2000. There is a huge difference between the network technologies. Theoretically it will give 144 Kbps speed in CDMA 1x network and 3.1 Mbps (theoretically, depends on the network traffic) in "EV-DO over CDMA2000" network. |

RE: EVDO in Kolkata
I read about that limited configuration somewhere on internet. may be bcoz initially u r buying it with CDMA connection so u have to reconfigure it for EVDO connection and then it can detect the available network on its own.
Im thinking so bcoz plans for CDMA and EVDO are different, so u wud be needed to upgrade your plan from 220/month to 550/month. watever it may be, i used this device with CDMA connection and found it worthless. max speed achieved was 5KBps. and connection dropped very frequently. I cud only use gmail with it. Airtels GPRS on phone is much better than it. I got photon+ now and happy with its consistent speed of around 200-250KBps. Its much more woth than the BSNL EVDO. may be i will change my opinion after the launch of 3G in kolkata but till then i wont stop cursing it for its damn slow speed. NB: if you are buying it from someone else then the device need to be deconfigured first from previous owners account else u cant get new connection on the same device. anyone planning to buy device from someone else shud take care of this. |
