RE: EVDO and torrent download/upload speeds ?
I have bought my EVDO day before yesterday, and I have downloaded total of 1082 MB using torrent, but I am not getting more than 30KBps. I live in Poonamallee, and the tower is about a km from my room, and the signal is 4 bars... Do i need to move closer to the tower in order to achieve more speed?

Speed may increase but it's not necessary. Test the speed by placing the device in different locations of your house. I did that and eventually found the best place to get the maximum speed. Believe me it can vary a lot from one room to other, even if they have a distance of just 2 meters.

Believe it or not, my max download speeds are just 10 kB/s and that too if I am lucky. I get 3 bars for my EV DO. I am using XP and mozilla. any idea what can be done?

use azureus vuze Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links. for torrents. It creates local connections for uploading and so it does not requires listening ports for connecting to peers . I have successfully maintained my ratio on private trackers by using it. But do not have high expectations because upload speed of evdo is very low i.e. 153 kbps(approx. 17KBps as written in manual but actual upload speed is 8-12KBps) so it will take more time for seeding.

i tested it on 144kbps plan(cdma 1x) and the speeds were 14-16KB/s download and 9-10 KB/s upload people in lucknow are gettng 600-700 kbps during day and above 1mbps during night. But believe me use azureus as it has never let me down and till now i have used it on reliance ,airtel gprs and it worked successfully on my slow airtel gprs connection where utorrent limewire etc failed and on my bsnl evdo connection too it is working fine and i have downloaded and uploaded in GB's every month on the very shared static ip where utorrent was not able to provide more than 4KB\s download and 0KB\s upload.
Plus you will also get high definition music viddeos and serials and various other features which no other bit torrent client offers .Just use azureus and you'll feel the difference Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images.
