RE: BSNL EVDO Under GNU/Linux
I have found out that newer builds of modserial support upto 1 mbps. I dont think airprime is needed as evdo speeds hardly exceed 1 mbps in bsnl.

RE: BSNL EVDO Under GNU/Linux
For those of you using ubuntu 9.04 or similar versions(I use linux mint) you can get this working in network manager. The modem is not detected by NM, its a known bug. However you can simply make the required modification to get NM to connect automatically
$ gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/77-nm-probe-modem-capabilities.rules
change the line
DRIVERS=="option|sierra|hso|cdc_acm|qcserial", GOTO="probe"
to
DRIVERS=="option|sierra|hso|cdc_acm|qcserial|moto-modem", GOTO="probe"

save and replug your device. It should get detected by network manager,
you can then edit connections, enter the username and password and start
using the device.
Due credit to Binoy who first wrote about this method in the response box of

RE: BSNL EVDO Under GNU/Linux
For those with UBUNTU versions before 9.04 try the instructions on this link

Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links.

I was able to make it work on my 5 year old desktop running Fiesty fawn using the instruction for configuring WVDial, Intrestingly Ubuntu 9.04 onwards WVdial is not part of Distro, In case you want it you have to download it leading to Chicken-Egg situation,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
