BSNL EVDO CDMA in Linux -Get Ultimate satisfaction
Hi EVDO CLUB!!!!!!

I am using BSNL EDVO/CDMA here in Guwahati from the last one month. This is BSNL Data Card in Assam. I was using the modem device with its driver for windows. I found slow speed at maximum time. I am a linux system administrator and I already designed some new admin technique for window based software. It has been published in Linux For You too. Now I thought I should configure my EVDO/CDMA in Linux. I studied and finally run the new EVDO in Linux, surprisingly I found that it gives ultimate result in Linux. I connects in a few second, It gives high speed and you also know it is best for virus protection also. You do not need any antivirus, firewall to install.

Or you can do the following.....
Login as root in your linux desktop.
1. Run the command as root .
#modprobe usbserial vendor=0x05c6 product=0x3197 ( Vendor/product is may be different for your device, confirm first, see the above link for this)
2. Run the command below as root.
#wvdialconf newconffile
you will see the result on the screen.... detecting device on /dev/ttyUSB0 ( your may be different)
3. Open the file 'wvdial.conf' in the '/etc' with a text editor and modify the below selection
device path : /dev/ttyUSB0 ( see what is yours on point 2 above)
ph no: #777 ( set your as given by BSNL)
braud: set to '2550000' as your device speed capacity is 2.4mbps
user id : put your user id here
password : put your pwd here
Finally save the file and return to terminal to get connected.
4. Run the following in your terminal window as root.
#wvdial
Ha..Ha...Ha.. see... you got connected.
minimise the terminal window and open the browser to your favorite site.
5. Press 'ctrl+c' to disconnect in the ternminal.
Very important: After disconnection if you try to reconnect again you EVDO will not respond. Your have to connect the device in your windows platform again and reconnected to linux. I have tried to solve the issue but could find the clue. Please write to me if you find any solution for this. mail me on abkalita@sify.com
I would be appreciated if you really like the idea. I am very thankful to gigacore and his staff for their great effort to help EVDO people. I request them to please start another site for 'Tata Indicom', Realiance netconnect, airtel GPRS card and finally the 3G card.

Agree to the last of the word! I have been using Linux since about 18 mopnths now. But for this EVDO thing I had to switch to Windows as I use openSUSE 11.0 and it gives an error saing that the command 'usbserial' was not found. SO I had to go to Windows XP> I will try to use it on Linux soon as I get time coz I am fed up in last 4 days by the unstable operation of Windows, both XP and Vista! I really need Linux!
