I have the same settings; but not getting more than 62.5 KBPS.

What is the maximum speed you have ever got?

Nitin

P.S. I double checked and can now say for sure that speed will not go beyond 62.6 KBps. It reached 62.6 very frequently but will not go above it. Whereas on Win XP it goes upto 110 KBps.

rightclick on it -- edit connections-- mobile broadband-- auto mobile broadband -- edit-- enter ur username and password
done

Hi,

How do I do it? On my lappy, I right clicked on Network manager -> Edit Connections -> Mobile Broadband -> New. But I could not find any option for Auto Mobile Broadband (CDMA); do I need to install anything to do it?

On my lappy, once I go to Network manager -> Edit Connections -> Mobile Broadband -> New, I only get an option to select the service provider, and after that screen, the next step is to give a name to this configuration and then Finish. And nothing happens after that.

Please help me on how to do it?

Regards

Nitin

this is all i have in my wvdial.conf file
i never had a problem of speed or disconnection
ubuntu is always better than anyother windows os

This is my third post in a row; I have intentionally not edited my last posts, because I think new posts are more relevant here.

Now back to business, after observing that speed just won't go beyond 62.6 KBps, but 62.6 KBps was avhieved very frequently, I concluded that this is due to the cap to usbserial buffer.

So I decided to patch it up, searched on net, downloaded Linux development environment and source code, modified usb-serial.c add a command-line parameter for buffer, compiled, built and deployed the driver module.

And voila, I could see speed going up to 110 KBps; I downloaded a file from rapidshare and speeds were constantly above 80 KBps.

One thing I could not understand, if this is a known problem for so long, why can't Ubuntu resolve it by themselves, instead of expecting users to do it.

Cheers

Nitin

@ntomer

Dude, I could easily touch 160 kBps on Ubuntu 8.10 n now on 9.04. N of course, these speeds without any tweaks as I have no idea on how Linux works..! (Only after reading the posts on this forum I came to knw about "Linux" as an OS. Yeah, I knw I'm dumb)...
So I guess there's not much the Ubuntu team could do about it, u got to figure it out yourself as what caused u all these problems and pls dnt forget sharing it on the forum if u find something!
Cheers,
Kunal

Hi,

Please tell us how did you configure EvDO on your machine? On my lappy, I right clicked on Network manager -> Edit Connections -> Mobile Broadband -> New. But I could not find any option for Auto Mobile Broadband (CDMA); do I need to install anything to do it?
