Breaking news - Only Rs 2100 for EVDO Modem now
Breaking news - EVDO Modem costs only Rs. 2100 now...

BSNL has advertised in Chennai Deccan Chronicle daily stating that EVDO modem is being offered(a limited period offer) for Rs. 2100 only for outright purchase. A drastic fall from the current offer price of Rs. 3500!!!

Friends, what does this mean? Is BSNL readying for launching superior speed internet with new hardware setup(Modem) and want to empty the stocks of old EVDO modems with them ? Would it be worthy going for this offer or better to wait for some more time and then decide ?
Right now I have taken the modem on rental basis.

Thanks

Thats Fantastic !Easily beats the price of Tata Indicom Plug 2 Surf modem. It would be great if BSNL employs more of WLL towers across India.

It HAD to happen! I invested in a purchase just a few days ago! But yes, as you've all said, it is really good that devices become cheaper - more people can then get connected.

I checked with BSNL today. They said first they gave that offer but immediately it is cancelled.

Now only special tarriff available for existing broadband users and rate of EVDO devise is same.

Here is a lesser known Fact and an advise for those who want to have EVDO modem in far less price.

If you are really looking for a discounted price on EVDO pick it up from a rural area wherever it is available. If you know someone in that rural area as you might need his or her address proof for that.

i.e. i picked up my EVDO card from a small town in HP called Hamirpur but I do reside at both the places from time to time so it was easy with address proof thing. I only paid Rs 1281 there, whereas in a city like Chandigarh you get it for somewhere around Rs 4200 for it and since BSNL has announced the national Roaming one can enjoy it all over India.

so its a Great Deal !!

Do you or does anybody in this forum have the link or paper cutting to this advertisement? I would like to ask the BSNL Blokes why are they taking us taxpayers for a ride?

This is the offer only applicable on PCMCIA type EvDO modem and not for USB type.....mind it. So only laptop users will be benifited by this offer.
