"EVDO" is actually "3G". But they didn't make it official or public. If u can notice on the EVDO box what we got, u can see a slogan; "Let's 3G!"

Well, the current and old network is "3G"!! Because EVDO is 3G!
Read this: Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links.
But CDMA 1x is not 3G, it is 2.5G Network.
And, what we people across India, who are on "EVDO" is accessing nothing but "3G" network! There are many people who are using it from 2008 january in Bangalore and few other cites. There are few in this forum as well.
I really cannot say the difference, because, what we were using was "3G" and what will gonna use is "3G"..... The only thing is that BSNL didn't say to public that EVDO is 3G, so many people were using it blindly. There won't be any speed difference, coz we are on same network.. i.e 3G, before, now and in future. Until and unless we get more towers and better coverage, the speed remains the same.
And the current (3G) EVDO network infrastructure what here in India from BSNL is Rev. 0 which gives speeds upto 2.4 Mbps. There is also another type of EVDO, that is Rev. A which gives speeds upto 3.1 Mbps...
Till now, BSNL hasn't made any move to Rev. A anywhere in India.
And also, the link what u have given clearly states that:
Quote:However, when 3G is launched commercially, it will make possible other services like video conferencing, online gaming, high speed internet, video streaming, live IPTV, video-on demand on 3G enabled mobile phones.
In the sense, EVDO is just the part of the established 3G network for "High Speed Internet". So IPTV and others are the branches of 3G network.
There was a controversy going on about "BSNL selling 3G service in India" even before the govt of India has released the guidelines and before granting the permission. The 3G Service which was in controversy was nothing but "EVDO"
You can read over here: Guests cannot see links in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see links.
So, I think BSNL is trying to make EVDO as a part of 3G network commercially and officially ASAP...
