Hi Veagles,
thank you so much for patiently and clearly explaining the procedure with all the screenshots etc;
Now, i followed all the steps you have said in msg no:46 and also changed the id no in two places.
still i couldnt find ZTE modem in my Network preferences. But the system profiler shows it in the USB .
you had said :
"""""
@mahesh m,
Change 24576 in the script to 12695. Download the file again. Restore it first and start over.
I Repeat, first restore or else it wont work.
"""""""
is the above order to be followed...? (first change no. then download file again...?)
Sorry if iam bothering you too much with such a simple thing...!
I asked you to download again because it MOVES the original drivers from kext folder to your Mac. So, the restore script will work only once, but not again. Similarly, the install script will work only once.
So, download again, restore and insert your device id which is 12695 in place of 24576, and run install.sh.
Hi Veagles,
I followed all the commands properly this time...! no luck at all !!!
could it be possible the id nos. might be different ... or what other reason could it be ...??
but when i connect in the USB, the device shows up in the system profiler... the details are :
/////////////////////////////
ZTE CDMA Tech:
Version: 0.00
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: ZTE, Incorporated
Product ID: 0x3197
Vendor ID: 0x05c6
/////////////////////////////////////
how did you say for this product id the no has to be changed to 12695? just curious ...
Do you know of somebody from Chennai from whom i can take help and if need be take the machine to him..?
thanks...!!
0x3197(Hex)=1478(Decimal)
0x3197(Hex)=12695(Decimal)

thanks Veagles ...!
i think you actually meant :
0x05c6(Hex)=1478(Decimal)
0x3197(Hex)=12695(Decimal)
and
i checked out the Novatel Mac support site also.... there was a page for Tiger OS.. it says how to add if the modem is not shown in the Network automatically .. i tried that too....
i get a reply "could not connect to the communication device"
and what does it mean that the system profiler shows the ZTE in the USB ?
after troubling you with 15 posts still i am unable to connect my EVDO !!!!!!!! owh.....!
Any device connected using usb will show up in system profiler. That doesnt mean that the modem is installed.
So, the best thing you can do is get Leopard, its totally worth it.
Networking is much improved compared to tiger. I am using 10.5.3 and I love it.
Hi Veagles ........!!!!
this message i am typing with the net connected through ZTE CDMA connection.....!!!!
Thanks a ton .... for all your support so far .!! Finally ...!!
I went back to your old PL2303 method and followed all the procedures ...! ( changing the device no. included ...) .
the PL2303 port got detected and then i could connect very easily.
Does it mean , your new method ( where the speed will be much faster ) can also be tweaked to work for Tiger...?
Congratulations..

It should work for tiger too. I have not tried it on tiger yet.
If you are on 1X network, then you can continue to use the pl2303 driver, as speeds are almost the same.
If you have evdo, then you will experience much slower speeds compared to windows.
Hi Veagles,
My Product & Vendor id are as follows:
