I have got an icon in the menu bar but it is of no use as neither can it be used for dialling nor for seeing connectivity. If you copy the kext files to system/library/extensions... the icon will not appear.
That icon in menu bar is useless, as the driver doesnt recognize the card, so nothing is displayed. You can ignore it, as long as the modem works.
Do NOT copy the the kext I have given. That is the default apple kext, which you can use to restore your kext, if the modem did not work.

Hi Veagles,

I appreciate you, for all your great efforts at making the EVDO work for mac at the best speed.
I have been following all the posts for the past few weeks. and went ahead and got the EVDO connection, even though i use a Mac.

I am from Chennai. I run Mac OS 10.4.11.

I followed the procedure you have mentioned in post #46. i did it , till running the shell script.( my Install folder was in my Desktop , so i had to change directory to Desktop to access it instead of root). But i dont see the ZTE connection anywhere. where do i access network preferences. ( i have only system prererences from the apple icon, from which i can choose network. after that all i have is options like built-in-ethernet or bluetooth or built-in-firewire.) plz tell me what is the procedure for mac OS 10.4 ( i am not using leopard ).

plz help ....
I have used 10.4.6, as far I can remember, it didnt have any evdo drivers. Download this driver package from apple, and then try running the script.

Hi Veagles,

that wwansupport driver says 'it cant be run on this computer'.
I user OS 10.4.11
Ok, Apple has included evdo drivers from release 10.4.9. So you should not need that package.
Did the script run properly? Did you see any messages?
the script ran properly... it gave the message that the device was added successfully.... i am not sure . about the next step only... you had said to go to Network Preferences and to click the + sign at the left bottom ...; where to access the Network Preferences? .. i have only options like built-in-ethernet or bluetooth or built-in-firewire in the internet connect icon.( and where to go and choose the modem?). i tried the bluetooth route where there is a possiblity of selecting a modem. but i dont see ZTE as an option there at all, even after successfull installation....

can u help plz...
..... and is this 3G network ? ( the packing box which came with the device says ..Lets 3G !)
Open System Preferences.
Select Network.
There is a small + button at the bottom of the left pane where you have a list of available interfaces like ethernet, bluetooth etc.
Click on that + button, you will get an option like ZTE CDMA Tech.
Configure it after adding, then connect.
hi

there is no + button of the left pane... there is only a lock button to prevent changes from being done, which can be left open or locked.
but there is something called network port configurations in which i can choose either bluetooth, or ethernet or firewire or airport ... but it doesnt show ZTE now... should i retry doing it from scratch...?
